The Hay Group Division of Korn Ferry reviewed almost 150,00 entry-level positions across nearly 1000 organizations in America. From their hard work, we get a snapshot of what this may look like for this years college grads.

  • Software developer: $65,232 (31% above average)

  • Engineer: $63,036 (27% above average)

  • Actuary: $59,212 (19% above average)

  • Scientist/researcher: $58,733 (18% above average)

  • Environmental professional: $56,660 (14% above average).

Among the lowest:

  • Buyer/logistics: $44,247 (11% below average)

  • Call-center specialist: $41,158 (17% below average)

  • Claims examiner: $37,508 (25% below average)

  • Customer service representative: $35,848 (28% below average)

  • Category assistant: $35,592 (29% below average).

Average by city:

  • San Francisco: $62,829

  • New York: $60,190

  • Los Angeles: $55,709

  • Chicago: $54,515

  • Minneapolis: $53,121

  • Dallas: $50,084

  • Atlanta: $49,038.
