New Jobs, Forest Park?
According to the Fort Gillem Redevelopment Authority, thousands of jobs may be headed to Forest Park in Clayton County. Who will bring these jobs? Well, at this point they are unknown. What do we know? These 3 companies, that want to set up shop close to the airport, plan to bring 500-1,000 jobs each and will be ready to move in by 2013 or 2014. What’s left? Letters of commitment! Let’s hope they do. (Clayton News Daily, 2012)
Small Biz Expansion
Mamanoe’s Grocery Shop will soon open in Atlanta. This vintage yet upscale eatery from Birmingham, AL’s is popular spot in their loft community and downtown business districts. They are looking forward to serving area residents and business professionals in Midtown. Although they are excited about opening their second store in Midtown, they can’t wait to open store number 50. Certainly this second local will be a great place to start. (Birmingham News, 2012)
Corporate Relocations
Are corporate relocations on the move? According to the 45th annual corporate relocation survey by Atlas Vane Lines, Inc. they may just be. The data showed that 26% of companies plan to relocate more works this year. 86% of say they are planning to spend more on relocations this year in comparison to last year. Where does the south rank in relocation destinations? Third with 31% while the Midwest come in 2nd with 37%. The Northeast comes in 1st with 42%. (Atlas Van Lines, 2012)
A Deal for the Kids
$20 Million. That’s the magic number that represents the investment that Georgia Tech and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta have made to develop technology solutions that will improve pediatric healthcare right here in the Greater Atlanta Area. This partnership stands on the shoulders of existing partnerships held by various healthcare entities throughout the state. With each organization attributing an even half (10 Million per) all the great work will take place at both locations. (Atlanta Business Chronicle, 2012)
.Com on the Move
Fabric.com, an online fabric store that specializes in selling cut yard fabric directly to consumers, will move from Marietta to Kennesaw. After considering relocation outside of the United States, their final decision was to stay in Cobb County. Settling into 200,000 square feet in the Jiles Commerce Center will also bring 50 new jobs. So in addition to new jobs the 200 jobs they employ will stay in Cobb Copunty, Ga U.S. of A. (The Marietta Daily Journal, 2012)
